Keiji Haino ( 灰野敬二 ) - To Start With, Let's Remove The Colour (2002)

| Avant-Garde | Ethereal | Experimental Rock |
| Psychedelic Rock | Noise Rock |

This album starts haunting since its cover, a completely beautiful deep gray blurry photo of Keiji (for Haino's other releases, check out here). "To Start with, Let's remove the colour" offers up well over an hour of haunting, midnight lamp-accompanied music that will effortlessly spritz your soul with the most gentle, glacially hovering solo guitar and vocals. Buried deep in a vast and dark cloud, there're staggered guitar strums layered with totally somnambulant ghost moaning and more than 10 times your reccommended daily allowance of reverb. Beyond gorgeous.

Following the simple selft-titled opening song, we have the amazing "What To Do, Moving Apart, Drawing Near, The Closer You Get The More You Become Someone Else" (another yay! for keiji's long titled tracks!), filled with ghost-like vocals and a delicate cursed-reverb guitar. The rest of the album continues as stunning as the start, but its best track is perhaps "Now Which? There Has To Be Somewhere To Come Back To". I can't even describe that, a completely disturbing song that summarizes the album spirit (good word to describe it, 'spirit').
